Ivy League Fencing Championships Heads to Princeton February 7-8

– The 2026 Ivy League men’s and women’s fencing championships are set for this weekend at Jadwin Gymnasium on the campus of Princeton University. Action on Saturday, February 7, and Sunday, February 8, begins at 9 a.m. each day. The complete schedule can be found on the Ivy League fencing championships website

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • NATIONALLY RANKED FIELD – Eleven Ivies are ranked in the US Fencing Coaches Poll. On the women’s side, five teams are in the national top 10. Columbia owns the top spot, followed by Princeton (No. 3), Harvard (No. 4), Penn (No. 8), Yale (No. 9), and Cornell (No. 12). In addition, all five men’s teams are ranked in the top 10, as Columbia is No. 2 on the men’s side, followed by Harvard (No. 3), Princeton (No. 4), Penn (No. 7), and Yale (No. 10).
  • DEFENDING CHAMPS – Last year, Princeton claimed the men’s fencing title while Harvard captured the women’s championship. The Princeton men finished the event with a 4-0 record, while the Harvard women were also perfect at 6-0. On the men’s side, Columbia swept the individual weapon titles, as Justin Haddad (epee), Samarth Kumbla (foil), and Will Morrill (sabre) finished atop the individual standings. On the women’s side, Columbia’s Tierna Oxenreider (epee), Princeton’s Emese Domonkos (sabre), and Harvard’s Jessica Guo (foil) won individual titles.
  • STRONG NATIONAL SHOWINGS – The Ivy League had a strong showing at the 2025 NCAA men’s and women’s fencing championships. Three Ivies finished in the top five, including Columbia as the national runner-up, Harvard in third, and Princeton in fourth. Thirty-two individuals earned All-America status, including Harvard’s Jessica Guo (women’s foil), Columbia’s Tierna Oxenreider (women’s epee), Harvard’s Andrew Chen (men’s foil), and Harvard’s Henry Lawson (men’s epee), who all finished as silver medalists in their respective weapons.
  • OLYMPIC IVY – Five Ivies who competed on the Paris 2024 Olympic stage are set to compete at the 2026 Ivy League fencing championships, including Olympic gold medalist Princeton’s Maia Weintraub, along with Princeton’s Hadley Husisian, Harvard’s Jessica Guo, Harvard’s Colin Heathcock, and Penn’s Malak Hamza.
