PRINCETON, N.J. – After Yale and Columbia shared the Ivy League title a year ago, this year’s preseason poll reflected just how tight the race could be once again, with Columbia earning preseason favorite honors.
The Lions narrowly secured the top spot with 118 points and nine first-place votes. Yale finished just behind Columbia with 116 points and seven first-place votes, setting up what projects to be a tightly contested race at the top of the standings. Penn was picked third with 100 points, followed by Harvard (73 points) and Princeton (49).
Cornell was selected sixth with 45 points, while Dartmouth (41) and Brown (34) rounded out the poll.
Ivy League baseball opening day is slated for Friday, February 20.
