No. 1 Yale Advances to Championship Round, Columbia and Brown To Meet in Elimination Game

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Day two of the 2026 Ivy League Baseball Championship hosted at George H.W. Bush ’48 Field at Yale University saw Columbia avoid elimination with a win, while top-seeded Yale advanced to the championship tomorrow.
 
GAME 1: NO. 4 COLUMBIA 6, NO. 2. PENN 3 (BOX SCORE)
Columbia stayed alive in the Ivy League Baseball Tournament with a 6-3 win over Penn on Saturday afternoon at George H.W. Bush ’48 Field. The Lions responded quickly to early Penn runs and took control with a three-run second inning before closing out the victory late.

Penn opened the scoring in the first inning, but Columbia answered immediately with RBI singles from Owen Estabrook and Jackson Brewer to take the lead. After the Quakers tied the game in the second, the Lions responded again, using an RBI single from Anthony Temesvary and a two-run hit from Cole Fellows to move in front 5-2.

Columbia added an insurance run in the sixth inning, while Will Harrigan shut the door in relief, retiring six of the seven batters he faced with four strikeouts to earn the save.

Alex Sotiropoulos earned the win for Columbia, allowing three runs while striking out seven across six innings. Fellows finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Lions offensively.

With the victory, Columbia advanced to Sunday’s elimination game with a spot in the championship round on the line, while Penn’s season came to an end.
 
 
GAME 2: NO. 1 YALE 5, NO. 3 BROWN 2 (BOX SCORE)
Top-seeded Yale advanced to the Ivy League Baseball Tournament championship game with a 5-2 victory over Brown. Yale struck first in the opening inning when Chris DiPrima drove home Garrett Larsen, but Brown answered immediately to even the score at 1-1. The game remained tied until the sixth, when the Bulldogs used four-straight hits to seize control.

Jack Dauer lined an RBI double down the line to put Yale back in front before Colin Sloan added an RBI single. Davis Hanson then launched a two-run home run to extend the Bulldogs’ advantage to 5-1.

Tate Evans earned the win for Yale, allowing one earned run across seven innings while striking out five. Ben Winslow closed out the final two innings in relief. Larsen led the Bulldogs offensively with three hits, while Hanson finished with two RBIs.

With the victory, Yale improved to 29-13-1 overall and advanced to Sunday’s championship game. Brown dropped into the elimination bracket and faced Columbia later Saturday night.
