PRINCETON, N.J. – On the first night of the Ivy League’s first back-to-back weekend of the season, Columbia, Cornell, Brown and Harvard earned Friday night victories.
COLUMBIA 73, NO. 19 PRINCETON 67
Columbia extended its win streak to five and its nation’s longest true road winning streak to 16 games with a 73-67 victory over No. 19 Princeton at Jadwin Gymnasium. The Lions shot 51 percent from the field and limited the Tigers’ perimeter attack, allowing just two three-pointers. Perri Page scored 23 points to lead five Lions in double figures, with 14 coming in the second half. Madison St. Rose and Olivia Hutcherson each scored 17 points for Princeton. Columbia (14-5) and Princeton (17-2) now share first place in the Ivy League standings at 5-1.
CORNELL 62, PENN 58
Cornell improved to 3-3 in Ivy League play with a 62-58 win at Penn on Friday. The Big Red shot 48 percent from the field (24-of-50) and 47 percent from three-point range (8-of-17), powered by a combined 38 points from Emily Pape (20 points) and Rachel Kaus (18 points). Mataya Gayle led Penn with a game-high 20 points. Cornell improved to 8-11 overall and 3-3 in Ivy play, while Penn dropped to 12-7 overall and 2-4 in conference action.
BROWN 55, DARTMOUTH 41
Brown earned a 55-41 road win over Dartmouth behind a strong defensive effort. The Bears held the Big Green to 28 percent shooting (15-of-53) and forced 25 turnovers. Alyssa Moreland and Grace Arnolie each scored 14 points for Brown, with Moreland adding nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three steals. Brown improved to 12-6 overall and 4-2 in Ivy play, while Dartmouth fell to 9-10 overall and 0-6 in conference action.
HARVARD 72, YALE 44
Harvard pulled away in the second half, outscoring Yale 37-17 to earn a 72-44 win in Cambridge. Karlee White led all scorers with 19 points and four steals, while Saniyah Glenn added 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting and Abigail Wright finished with 10 points. The Crimson shot 42 percent from the field (29-of-69) and forced 23 turnovers. Luisa Vydrova (17 points) and Ciniya Moore (16 points) led Yale, which dropped to 5-14 overall and 1-5 in Ivy League play. Harvard improved to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in conference action.
