PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton, Penn, Dartmouth and Harvard capped off the first Ivy League back-to-back weekend with victories as the conference season has officially reached the midway point.
PRINCETON 72, CORNELL 61
Princeton pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure a 72-61 win over Cornell at Jadwin Gymnasium. The teams were tied at 27 at the half before Princeton took a two-point edge into the final period and then outscored the Big Red 24-15 over the final 10 minutes to seal it. Olivia Hutcherson and Skye Belker led the Tigers with 20 points apiece, while Ashley Chea added 11 points in the victory. Cornell was paced by Rachel Kaus with 20 points, followed by Emily Pape with 14 and Clarke Jackson with 12, as Princeton improved to 18-2 overall and 6-1 in Ivy play while Cornell moved to 8-12 overall and 3-4 in the league.
HARVARD 61, BROWN 58
Saniyah Glenn-Bello drilled a buzzer-beater game-winning three as Harvard held off Brown in a dramatic 61-58 win at Lavietes Pavilion on Saturday night. The Crimson led 37-31 at halftime before Brown battled back and made it a one-possession game late, but after a costly turnover by Brown, Harvard had the chance for the win in the final possession. Harvard shot 39 percent from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers, while Brown finished at 38 percent shooting and hit seven threes. The Crimson were led by Karlee White who scored a game-high 21 points with four rebounds and three asisists while Glenn-Bello finished with 19 points on five made threes and six boards. For Brown, four finished in double figures with Grace Arnolie’s 16 points leading the Bears. Harvard improved to 12-8 overall and 5-2 in the Ivy League while Brown fell to 12-2 and 4-3 in Ivy play.
PENN 64, COLUMBIA 55
Penn used a strong second half to earn a 64-55 win over Columbia at The Palestra. The game was tied 25-25 at halftime before the Quakers edged ahead in the third quarter and then outscored the Lions 22-15 in the fourth to pull away. Mataya Gayle led Penn with 16 points, while Brooke Suttle added 11 and Tina Njike chipped in 10 as the Quakers improved to 13-7 overall and 3-4 in Ivy play. Riley Weiss scored a game-high 23 points for Columbia, and Perri Page added 10, as the Lions fell to 14-6 overall and 5-2 in conference action.
DARTMOUTH 77, YALE 59
Dartmouth set the tone early and closed strong in a 77-59 win over Yale at Leede Arena. The Big Green opened with a 20-6 first quarter lead and, after Yale trimmed the deficit in the middle quarters, Dartmouth outscored the Bulldogs 27-19 in the fourth to put the game away. Zeynep Ozel posted a game-high 30 points to lead Dartmouth, with Olivia Austin adding 14 and Cate MacDonald scoring 12 in the win. Yale was led by Ciniya Moore with 17 points, while Ke’iara Odume had 14 and Marisa Chapman added 13, as Dartmouth improved to 10-10 overall and 1-6 in Ivy play while Yale dropped to 5-15 overall and 1-6 in the league.
