PRINCETON, N.J. - No. 20 Princeton, Columbia, Harvard and Penn all earned Saturday victories with three of four teams winning on the road.
NO. 20 PRINCETON 58, BROWN 49
No. 20 Princeton stayed perfect in Ivy League play with a 58-49 road win at Brown, improving to 17-1 overall and 5-0 in conference action. The Tigers built a 13-point lead in the third quarter before Brown cut the margin to four in the fourth, but Princeton responded with seven straight points and, despite back-to-back three-pointers from the Bears, sealed the win at the free-throw line down the stretch. Fadima Tall led Princeton with an all-around effort of 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Grace Arnolie paced Brown (11-6, 3-2 Ivy) with 14 points and Alyssa Moreland recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
HARVARD 84, CORNELL 38
Harvard stormed into Ithaca and earned a convincing 84-38 win over Cornell behind a strong performance on both ends of the floor. The Crimson shot 49 percent from the field while forcing 31 Cornell turnovers, converting those miscues into 39 points. Mary Hollensteiner led Harvard with a team-high 22 points, shooting 8-of-11 from the field and knocking down six three-pointers, while Olivia Jones added 17 points and nine assists. With the win, Harvard improved to 10-8 overall and 3-2 in Ivy League play, while Cornell fell to 7-11 on the season and 2-3 in conference action.
PENN 64, YALE 37
Penn earned a 64-37 road win over Yale on Saturday afternoon, becoming the third Ivy League team to win away from home. Defense fueled the Quakers’ victory, as they held the Bulldogs to 25 percent shooting while forcing 26 turnovers and recording 17 steals. Penn had three players score in double figures, led by Simone Sawyer with 18 points, followed by Mataya Gayle with 12 and Katie Collins with 10. The Quakers improved to 12-6 overall and 2-3 in Ivy League play, while Yale dropped to 5-13 on the season and 1-4 in conference action.
COLUMBIA 89, DARTMOUTH 32
Columbia put on an offensive showcase behind Riley Weiss in an 89-32 win over Dartmouth at Levien Gymnasium. The Lions shot 51 percent from the field and dominated inside with 42 points in the paint. Weiss delivered an unstoppable performance, scoring a Columbia-record 40 points on nine three-pointers to go along with eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block, becoming the 15th NCAA Division I player to record a 40-plus-point game this season. Columbia improved to 13-5 overall and 4-1 in Ivy League play, while Dartmouth fell to 9-9 and 0-5 in the league.
