Princeton Earns Team Title, Harvard's Zhang Claims Medalist Honors At Women's Golf Championship

NAPLES, Fla. — Another picture-perfect day in southwest Florida set the stage for an exciting close to the 2025 Ivy League Women’s Golf Championship as Princeton claimed the team title and Harvard's Vanessa Zhang earned medalist honors.

Entering the final round two-under as a team and with a 14-shot lead, the final round was not much different as the Tigers shot six-over par and won the team title with a score of four-over-par, 868 for the championship. Princeton shattered the 17-year Ivy League record for team score in a 54-hole event by 22 strokes, eclipsing the 890 score that Harvard posted back in 2008.

The Tigers’ victory marked their record-tying eighth Ivy League Championship since the event began in 1997 and their first since 2022. Princeton’s top four golfers all finished in the top seven of the tournament, with Catherine Rao leading the charge as she finished the Championship in third place at four-under par.  Rao matched the best round of the weekend and had the best round of the day, carding a five-under par, 67 on Sunday. She was even on the front nine, but had four birdies and an eagle on the back nine with the eagle coming on the 18th hole. Victoria Liu finished fourth at one-over par for the tournament and Abra Richmond finished in a tie for fifth at two-over par. Finishing one shot back of having all four Princeton golfers finish in the top five was Olivia Duan who concluded the championship in a tie for seventh at five-over par.

Winning medalist honors in near runaway fashion was Harvard’s Vanessa Zhang. Zhang had just about mastered the Royal Palm Golf Club the first two days of the Ivy League Championship, carding a 68 on day one and a bogey-free 67 on day two, sitting at nine-under-par and in the lead by six strokes as she stood on the tee box Sunday morning. Starting on the back nine, Zhang carded a 35 before turning in another 35 on the front for a two-under par 70. The first-year standout ended the tournament at 11-under-par, carding a three-day total of 205. That, too, broke a 17-year Ivy League record as Zhang came in two strokes better than Princeton’s Susannah Aboff’s 207 in the 2008 championship.

The top five finishers, plus ties, are recognized by the Ivy League on the All-Championship Team. Zhang (-11, 205) was followed by Columbia’s Christine Chang (-6, 210), who was the only other golfer to shoot under par all three rounds and who’s 210 score is now third-best in Ivy League Championship history. Rao (-4, 212) and Liu (+1, 217) finished third and fourth, and Richmond (+2, 218) was joined by Penn’s Julie Shin (+2, 218) in a tie for fifth to make up the team.
