PRINCETON, N.J. -- After a regular season highlighted by national success and culminated with Cornell winning its second-consecutive Ivy League title, the Ivy League announced its All-Ivy teams and major award winners for the 2025 women’s ice hockey season.
Princeton junior
Issy Wunder was named Ivy League Player of the Year. After a breakout sophomore season in which Wunder was named Second Team All-Ivy, the forward became one of the best players in the country, scoring 25 goals and recording 24 assists for 49 points, 12 of which, on 5 goals and 7 assists, came in Ivy League play. Her 1.63 points per game ranked fourth in the country and she was tied for fourth nationally with 25 goals scored. Wunder opened the season on a 13-game point streak and maintained her consistent impact throughout the year, scoring in 8 of 10 games against Ivy League foes.
Cornell’s
Lindzi Avar was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, making it the second-straight Big Red player to win the award after
Annalies Bergmann last year. The Chanhassen, Minnesota native stepped into the Cornell lineup and helped replace the production lost by last year’s Ivy League Player of the Year and Patty Kazmaier Award winner Izzy Daniel. She led all Cornell skaters with 14 goals and was fifth on the team with 19 points in 29 games played. Avar came on strong at the end of the season, scoring 8 goals and totaling 11 points in her final 12 games, including 2 goal games against Princeton and Harvard.
Winning their second-straight Ivy League title and capping the regular season with a 20-4-5 record, Cornell was named Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year. Led by
Doug Derraugh, who won the individual Ivy League Coach of the Year Award a season ago, Cornell accumulated 27 points in the 10 Ivy League games this season and enters the postseason as the sixth-ranked team in the country.
Cornell led all Ivy League members with five All-Ivy selections, including four First Team All-Ivy recipients. In addition to Avar, defensemen
Ashley Messier and
Rory Guilday, and goaltender
Annelies Bergmann were all placed on the All-Ivy First Team, with Messier being a unanimous selection. The other unanimous selection was Wunder, who was Princeton’s only First Team All-Ivy recipient. Rounding out the All-Ivy First Team was forward Anna Bargman of Yale.
The All-Ivy Second Team featured players from four teams, with Dartmouth and Princeton each placing two members,
Lauren Messier and
Michaela Hesova for Dartmouth and
Sarah Paul and
Mackenzie Alexanderfor Princeton, on the team.
Alyssa Regalado made it five total All-Ivy honorees for Cornell and Harvard’s
Mia Biotti rounded out the All-Ivy Second Team.
