Pair of Pool Records Fall in Day 1

PRINCETON, N.J. – Two DeNunzio Pool records were broken in as many events in the first evening of competition at the Ivy League Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships.
 
In the first event, Harvard’s quartet of Anya Mostek, Aleksandra Denisenko, Sydney Lu and Blythe Wieclawek won the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:36.83, which was .04 off the Ivy record set last year. Princeton (1:37.14) narrowly edged out Yale (1:37.19) for second place.
 
Princeton’s group of Jenna Walters, Sabrina Johnston, Eleanor Sun and Heidi Smithwick won the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:03.47. Brown placed second in 7:09.54 and Penn placed third in 7:09.66.
 
The Tigers also claimed the team diving relay exhibition, now in its second year, with an overall score of 280.9.
 
Action resumes tomorrow with prelims set to begin at 11 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
