Princeton Wins Four Events on Day Two

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Tigers of Princeton University extended their overall team lead on Day Two of the Ivy League Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, winning four of five events inside DeNunzio Pool on Thursday evening.
 
Harvard University sophomore Alexandra Bastone captured the top spot in the night’s first event, winning the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of pool record 4:48.75, edging out the next closest competitor by nearly three seconds.
 
In the 200-Yard I.M., Princeton swept the podium as sophomores Eleanor Sun (1:55.50) and Dakota Tucker (1:57.76) finished first and second, respectively, followed by junior Eliza Brown (1:59.25) in third place.
 
Princeton’s success continued with wins in Thursday evening’s final three events beginning with a first-place swim from junior Sabrina Johnston (22.30) in the 50-Yard Freestyle, marking her second consecutive title in the event. Fellow junior Charlotte Martinkus notched 302.35 points to emerge victorious in the 1-Meter Diving finale, while the foursome of Johnston, Ela Noble, Veronique Rossouw, and Heidi Smithwick set a new Ivy League mark with a time of 1:28.22 in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.
 
Day Three of the championships resumes on Friday prelims set to begin at 11 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
