Quakers Set for Charlottesville Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – For the first time since 1988-90, the Penn baseball program will be making consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. The Quakers drew the Charlottesville Regional and open competition against top-seeded Virginia at noon on Friday.

Penn will look to replicate its success from last season, when it knocked off top-seeded Auburn in the region opener. The Quakers went on to advance to the region final.

The Quakers – which became the fourth Ivy in the last seven seasons to advance the regional final last season – earned the league’s automatic bid by winning three consecutive elimination games at the Ivy league tournament.

Six Quakers earned All-Ivy recognition this season, highlighted by unanimous player of the year selection Wyatt Henseler.  The senior third baseman has broken the following Ivy League all-time records: home runs (54), RBIs (188) and total bases (451).
