PRINCETON, N.J. – Following a vote of the league’s eight head coaches, the Ivy League announced its All-Ivy baseball teams and major award winners for the 2024 season Thursday afternoon.
Penn’s Wyatt Henseler was tabbed the Player of the Year while Callan Fang of Harvard snagged Pitcher of the Year honors. Cornell’s Mark Quatrani was named Rookie of the Year and Columbia’s Brett Boretti was voted Ivy League Coach of the Year.
Henseler led the league with a 1.265 OPS and 19 home runs. He guided his team with a .371 batting average. Henseler accounted for 47 RBIs, scored 54 runs and registered 131 total bases. He posted a .784 slugging percentage and sported a .481 on-base percentage. Twenty-nine of his 62 hits went for extra bases.
Fang went 3-3 on the season in 64 innings of work. In league play, he accounted for a 3.89 ERA in 43.2 frames. Fang held the opposition to a mere .196 batting average against Ivy League foes while registering 59 strikeouts. He notched a 2.89 ERA against conference foes and gave up just 14 earned runs.
Quatrani accounted for a .330 batting average and a 1.130 OPS. He belted nine home runs, drove in 36 runs and crossed home 18 times. He notched 61 total bases, tallied a .670 slugging percentage, and sported a .460 on-base percentage. Twelve of his 30 hits went for extra bases.
Boretti guided the Lions to the Ivy League title and the top seed in the upcoming tournament. His team went 17-4 in league play and 26-16 overall. Columbia’s offense posted a .310 batting average, scored 406 runs, produced 471 hits, drove in 382 runs and slugged .579. His pitching staff notched a pair of shutouts, had eight saves and struck out 340 batters on the season. Defensively, Columbia’s .968 fielding percentage was the second best among conference foes for the entire season.
Henseler, Jacob Faulkner (Princeton), Max Jensen (Cornell), Sam Miller (Columbia), Griffin Palfrey (Columbia), John Quinlan (Cornell), Ben Rounds (Harvard) and Joe Sheets (Columbia) were all unanimous selections.
Additionally, one Ivy League baseball student-athlete from each institution was recognized for their commitment in the classroom and on the field as members of the 2024 Ivy League Baseball Academic All-Ivy team. Brown's Nathan Brasher, Columbia's Cole Hage, Cornell's John Quinlan, Dartmouth’s Shane Bauer, Harvard’s Jake Berger, Penn's Wyatt Henseler, Princeton’s Caden Shapiro and Yale’s Jeff Pierantoni were each named to the team.
