PRINCETON, N.J. -- In a winner-take-all matchup between nationally-ranked teams, No. 6 Cornell upended No. 15 Yale 2-1 to earn the 2024 Ivy League women's ice hockey title.
It is the Big Red's 16th league crown all-time and first since 2020.
Cornell used goals from Mckenna Van Gelder and Karel Prefontaine to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Yale responded in the second period to cut the Cornell lead to 2-1. The two teams each exchanged chances in the third period but each goaltender turned the opportunities away leading Cornell to the title.
The Big Red will have a first round bye in the ECAC playoffs while Yale will host Union next weekend.
