Baseball All-Ivy, Postseason Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. – Following a vote the league’s eight head coaches, the Ivy League announced its All-Ivy baseball teams and major award winners for the 2023 season Thursday afternoon.
 
Columbia’s Andy Blake was voted the Player of the Year, Penn’s Ryan Dromboski was the Pitcher of the Year and Harvard’s Callan Fang was the Rookie of the Year. Penn’s John Yurkow was voted the Ivy League Coach of the Year.
 
Blake posted a .322 batting average in conference play and had an on base percentage of .423. He was a threat on the basepath with nine stolen bases on 10 attempts. The Hopewell Township, N.J., native scored 21 runs in Ivy play and had nine doubles.
 
Dromboski was dominant on the mound in Ivy play. The Columbus, N.J., native was 5-1 in league play. Over the course of 39.2 innings, Dromboski fanned 54 batters and posted a 2.27 earned runs average.
 
Fang boasted an earned runs average of 1.22 in league play. In 22.0 innings he registered 25 strikeouts. The Yardley, Pa., native limited his opponents to a batting average of .179 in league play.
 
Yurkow led the Quakers to consecutive Ivy League titles, marking the first time since 1990 that Penn has claimed back-to-back championships. Penn finished conference play with a 16-5 record.
 
Additionally, one Ivy League baseball student-athlete from each institution was recognized for their commitment in the classroom and on the field as members of the 2023 Ivy League Baseball Academic All-Ivy team. Brown's Derian Morphew, Columbia's Weston Eberly, Cornell's Sam Kaplan, Dartmouth’s Devin Milberg, Harvard’s Logan Bravo, Penn's Jackson Appel, Princeton’s Jackson Emus and Yale’s Ben Metzner were each named to the team.
 
Columbia, Harvard, Penn and Princeton are set to compete in the inaugural Ivy League Baseball Tournament from May 19-22 at Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium.
