PRINCETON, N.J. – The Penn Baseball team secured its second consecutive Ivy League title in dramatic fashion.
The Quakers rallied back from a 7-3 deficit in the bottom of the ninth to earn an 8-7 win and claim least a share of the title. This marks the first time since the 1990 season that the Quakers have won consecutive league titles. Penn won three straight from 1988-90.
Despite the result, the Lions secured the fourth and final spot in the
inaugural Ivy League tournament with Yale’s loss to Harvard.
The third game of the Columbia-Penn and Harvard-Yale series on Sunday becomes decisive for Ivy tournament hosting. The Quakers are a game ahead of the Crimson in the standings, however, Harvard holds the potential tiebreaker advantage over Penn due to winning the series this season.
