Harvard's Schneider Voted Ivy League Men's Fencing Coach of the Year

PRINCETON, N.J. – After leading the nation’s top-ranked Harvard men’s fencing program to its first Ivy title since 2020, Daria Schneider was voted Coach of the Year after a vote by the League’s five men’s fencing head coaches.
 
In her fourth year with the Crimson, Schneider earns men’s Coach of the Year honors for the second time since she began her tenure in Cambridge. Schneider and the Harvard Crimson posted a perfect 4-0 record at the Ivy League round-robins, including a key victory in a winner-take-all bout against defending champion No. 3 Columbia by a score of 16-11. In addition, Harvard earned wins over No. 6 Penn, 20-7, No. 9 Yale, 21-6, and No. 2 Princeton, 17-10.
 
Schneider also mentored two individual champions at the Round-Robins including foil champion James Chen and saber champion Filip Dolegiewicz. In addition, Harvard had a league-high five first-team All-Ivy honorees including James Chen and Kenji Bravo in foil, Filip Dolegiewicz and Mitchell Saron in saber, and Jonas Hansen in epee. In addition, Kenji Bravo earned a spot on the men’s fencing Academic All-Ivy team.
 
The NCAA season begins on Sunday, March 12 for Harvard as the Crimson is set to compete in NCAA Regionals in Cambridge.
