PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard, Princeton and Yale each earned event wins on the third day of the Ivy League Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships Friday evening at DeNunzio Pool.
Princeton’s Ellie Marquardt claimed first in the 400 IM, marking the fourth different individual event that she has won during her career at Ivy championships. She was followed by her teammate Meg Wheeler (4:13.97) and Penn’s Anna Kalandadze (4:15.13).
The Tigers added another event win in the 100 butterfly, with Nikki Venema defending her title with a time of 51.95. Harvard’s Sydney Lu (52.31) and Yale’s Alex Massey (53.11) took second and third, respectively.
Harvard’s Samantha Shelton claimed her second career title in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.13. Marquardt, competing in her second final of the evening, took second in 1:46.72 and Yale’s Raime Jones placed third.
Yale went 1-2 in the 100 breast with first year Jessey Li winning the title in 59.96 seconds. Ava Franks placed second in 1:00.73.
Anya Mostek, a Harvard freshman, won the tightly contested 100 back in 52.77 seconds. Brown’s Jenna Reznicek, the reigning champion in the event, placed second with a time of 53.00 seconds.
Harvard’s 400 medley relay team of Anya Mostek, Kaia Li, Sydney Lu and Samantha Shelton edged out Princeton by .06 seconds to take first place with a time of 3:35.64.
The fourth day of competition begins Friday with the prelims session at 11 a.m. ET and will be followed by the finals round at 6 p.m. All events will be broadcast on ESPN+.
