PRINCETON, N.J. – Following a vote the league’s eight head coaches, the Ivy League announced its All-Ivy baseball teams and major award winners for the 2022 season Thursday afternoon.
Dartmouth had a pair of major award winners in
Kade Kretzschmar, the Ivy League Player of the Year, and
Tyler Cox, the Rookie of the Year. Penn’s
Kevin Eaise was the unanimous selection for Pitcher of the Year and Columbia’s
Brett Boretti was unanimously voted Coach of the Year.
Kretzschmar hit .405 in league play and posted a slugging percentage of .774. In 21 games, the Carlsbad, Calif., native scored 29 runs, had 35 RBIs, hit 12 doubles and belted five home runs. Kretzschmar posted a .947 field percentage with 36 putouts during league play.
Eaise was dominant on the mound, posting a record of 7-0 in league play. He was third in the league in opponents’ batting average (.227) and in strikeouts (51) during Ivy play. His 3.05 ERA led all starting pitchers in the league.
Cox led the conference with a batting average of .464 in league play. The Valley Glen, Calif., native recorded 45 hits, including nine doubles in Ivy play. He was 7-9 on stolen base attempts. He had a nearly perfect field percentage with 24 putouts, 52 assists and just one error.
Borretti led the Lions to their ninth overall Ivy title. He led the Columbia on a 19-game win streak, the second longest in Ivy baseball history. The Lions finished Ivy play with a record of 17-4 and went on to win the Ivy Playoff Series, taking two straight elimination games after dropping Game 1 to Penn. This marks the third time that Boretti has earned the award, which was insitituted in 2015.

The Quakers, which earned a share of the Ivy title with a league record of 17-4, had the most representation on the first team with six players earning the honor. Senior starting pitcher

Ben Miller joined Eaise, Palis, Henseler and Hernandez.
Columbia and Dartmouth had the second most first team representatives on the first team.
Weston Eberly, a junior catcher for the Lions, joined Schott and Hage on the first team.

Tobey McDonough and Harvard sophomore relief pitcher
Jay Driver were also tabbed first team performers.
Additionally, one Ivy League baseball student-athlete from each institution was recognized for their commitment in the classroom and on the field as members of the 2022 Ivy League Baseball Academic All-Ivy team. Brown's
