Penn, Columbia Earn Ivy Titles; Two to Square Off in Ivy Playoff Series

PRINCETON, N.J. – Both Penn and Columbia earned shares of the Ivy League title Sunday afternoon. The two will play each other in the Ivy Playoff Series at Meiklejohn Stadium in Philadelphia on May 21-22 for the right to earn an automatic qualifier in the NCAA Tournament.

Both the Quakers and Lions finished Ivy play with a record of 17-4.

Penn concluded its regular season slate with a sweep of Princeton this weekend. The Quakers averaged 9.3 runs per contest during Ivy play and boasted the top team ERA with a mark of 3.51. Penn scored at least 10 runs in 10 of its Ivy contests.

Columbia entered the weekend with the longest winning streak in the nation of 19 games. Part of the streak included 15-consecutive league wins, which is an Ivy League record. The Lions averaged 10.2 runs per game during league play. They also reached or eclipsed the 10-run mark in 10 of their league games this season.

The Quakers earned the right to host the playoff series due to their series win over Columbia earlier this season.
