Women's Hockey, Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing Highlight Day 3 in Beijing

BEIJING — Day three of Olympic action brought Ivies contributing to wins on the ice and Ivies throwing on their skies to compete for medals.
 
The Canadian women’s ice hockey team continues to make a splash at the Winter Olympic Games as they defeated Finland, 11-1 on Saturday afternoon (Friday night in the United States) to improve to 2-0 in Group A. Cornell’s Brianna Jenner recorded a hat trick performance to help lead the Canadian offense, while Princeton’s Sarah Fillier and Dartmouth’s Laura Stacey scored two goals apiece for the second game in a row.  
Czech improves to 2-0 in Group B as they topped Sweden, 3-1. Brown’s Alena Mills and Cornell’s Lenka Serdar continue to see ice time. Mills contributed five shots in her 12:52 on the ice and Serdar fired off two shots in 7:07 minutes.
 
Cross-country skiing kicked off on Saturday afternoon in Beijing. Dartmouth’s Rosie Brennan and Julia Kern finished 14th  and 53rd, respectively,  in the Women’s 15km skiathlon.
 
Three-time Dartmouth Olympian Susan Dunklee began action as she helped Team USA finish seventh in the Biathlon Mixed Relay.
