Nine Ivies Medal in Women's Hockey on Day 15 in Beijing

BEIJING -- Day 15 of Ivies in Beijing was a big one as nine Ivies became Olympic champions after topping the USA, 3-2, in women’s ice hockey. Team Canada went undefeated throughout the tournament to earn their fifth Olympic gold medal. Cornell’s Brianne Jenner assisted the first goal that put Canada on the board, while Princeton’s Claire Thompson assisted the third goal to seal the deal. Thompson set a record for the most points (13) scored by a defensemen in a single Olympic tournament. Dartmouth’s Tricia Mangan took the slopes in her first event of her second Olympic Games as she finished 20th in the women’s combined downhill. A few hours later, Mangan competed in the women’s combined slalom where she finished just out of medal contention in eighth place. Cornell’s Karen Chen is finishing up competition in the ladies single’s event. She placed 13th in the short program and 17th in the free skate program.
