Ivy League, Member Institutions Continue To Monitor COVID-19

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Ivy League and its member institutions continue to prioritize the health and safety of its student-athletes, campus communities, fans and general public regarding COVID-19.

The League continues to have frequent communications with member schools and the appropriate public health officials located both within the Ivy League footprint and nationally.

Last week, the Ivy League made the difficult decisions to cancel the Ivy League Basketball Tournaments and all regular season conference and non-conference competitions for the remainder of the 2019-20 athletic year, including all championship events, due to continuing developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Additionally, all out-of-season practices and training sessions are canceled for the remainder of the academic year.

The League will continue to work closely with member institutions to provide up-to-date information as details and answers become available related to the coronavirus.

The Ivy League encourages the use of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website as a source of information for advice on preventive action and updates on the disease, and to seek medical advice from qualified medical professionals when necessary and appropriate.

Updated statement from the Ivy League Presidents (4/8/20)
Consistent with core longstanding principles,  Ivy League athletes are students first and foremost.  No student-athlete should withdraw from the spring 2020 term for the sole purpose of preserving athletics eligibility.
