PRINCETON, N.J. -- Columbia swept Yale in the meeting of last year’s Ivy League co-champions, propelling the Lions to the top of the Ivy League table with nine games remaining on the League slate.
Dartmouth, Harvard and Penn also picked up series wins. The Crimson (8-4) and Quakers (8-4) each sit a game back of the League-leading Lions.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josh Nicoloff, Columbia (So., IF – Ladera Ranch, Calif.)
- Hit .353 (6-for-17) as Columbia posted a 3-1 week, including a series sweep of Yale
- Tallied four extra-base hits—three doubles and one triple
- Accounted for seven runs on the week with five RBI and two runs scored
- Drove in the go-ahead runs in the 13th inning of Columbia’s series-opening 8-2 victory over Yale
- Owns a nine-game hitting streak, with six of those being multi-hit games
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Christian Scafidi, Penn (Jr., RHP – Blackwood, N.J.)
- Threw 8.1 innings in a series-clinching 1-0 victory over Princeton
- Allowed just six hits and three walks, while striking out 11 in the contest
- Held the Tigers to a .207 batting average
- Moved to 4-1 on the hill during his junior campaign
- Joins Mitchell Holcomb, becoming the second-straight Quaker starter to earn Pitcher of the Week honors
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Justin Murray, Dartmouth (Fr., RHP – Charlotte, N.C.)
- Tossed 7.0 innings in a series-clinching 7-5 win over Brown
- Conceded two earned runs on four hits and a pair of walks
- Struck out three, while holding the Bears to a .160 batting average
- Picked up his second collegiate win in the career-long outing (7.0 IP, 103 pitches)
- Claims 2-of-5 Dartmouth victories in conference play
