PRINCETON, N.J. -- For the second-straight week, Lou Gehrig proved to be the better division, as no team did worse than 2-2 in Ivy League play, while Cornell (7-1 Ivy) went 4-0 and Princeton (6-2 Ivy) finished 3-1. Penn (5-3 Ivy) and Columbia (5-3 Ivy) each went 2-2 over the weekend and Dartmouth (4-4 Ivy) stands in first place in the Red Rolfe Division after a 3-1 week.
The League went 5-5 in non-conference action last week, with wins over La Salle (Penn), Boston College (Harvard) and Rutgers (Columbia). In the second set of back-to-back double-headers, Cornell swept Brown and Yale, while Princeton went 3-1 against those two teams. The Bears and Bulldogs fell to 3-5 and 0-8 in Ivy play, respectively. Harvard (2-6 Ivy) went 1-3 on the weekend, splitting with Columbia before being swept by Penn.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Big Green went 4-1 overall last week, defeating St. Anselm in non-conference play, earning a sweep of Penn on Saturday and splitting with Columbia on Sunday. Senior shortstop Joe Sclafani (Palm City, Fla.) was instrumental in his team’s success, batting .476 (10-of-21) with seven runs and six RBI.
Sclafani batted .556 (10-of-18) in Dartmouth’s four victories, before Columbia held the senior shortstop hitless on a 4-3 Lions’ victory. Sclafani hit for the cycle for the week, with three doubles, two triples and one home run for a .952 slugging percentage. He walked twice and posted a .522 on-base percentage. Sclafani recorded four multi-hit games and knocked in at least one run in four of the five games on the week.
Sclafani received his third career Player of the Week award and his first since April 20, 2010, when he shared the honor with Penn’s Jeremy Maas. Sclafani is the first Dartmouth player to be named Player of the Week since Chris O’Dowd on May 3, 2011. He is now tied for the Ivy League career record in triples with 18.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Princeton junior pitcher Matt Bowman (Chevy Chase, Md.) was a force on the mound and at the plate for the Tigers, who went 3-2 last week. For his efforts, Bowman was named Pitcher of the Week.
After Princeton swept Yale, 6-3 and 2-1, Bowman kept the winning streak going with a complete game shutout of Brown, as the Tigers won, 8-0. The junior righthander struck out 12 over seven innings of work, giving up just six hits and two walks. Bowman limited Bears batters to .214 from the plate (6-of-28), while improving to 3-2 on the year.
Not content with throwing a complete game shutout, Bowman batted .450 in five games (9-of-20), slugging .500 and recording an on-base percentage of .500. He walked twice, hit one double, scored three runs and knocked in five more.
Bowman takes home his first career Ivy League weekly award and becomes the second Tigers hurler to be named Pitcher of the Week, joining Zak Hermans (March 6).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Brown finished 1-5 last week but it was not due to the efforts of freshman Will Marcal (Lexington, Mass.) Marcal batted .429 (9-of-21) and slugged .905 en route to being named Rookie of the Week.
Marcal led the Bears at the plate last week, with two home runs, four doubles, 10 runs and six RBI. He walked four times and finished with a .520 on-base percentage. He recorded three multi-hit games, including a 4-of-4 performance in the Bears’ final game of the week, a 13-6 win over Princeton. There, Marcal recorded three runs, a double, a walk and two RBI. On the mound, Marcal started one game, striking out four over five innings of work in a loss to Princeton.
Marcal is the first Brown athlete to be named Rookie of the Week since Anthony Galan shared the award on March 15, 2011. He is the first Brown player to be the sole winner of Rookie of the Week since Brad Kottman on March 16, 2010.

NOTES
Double-Headers
For the first time this season, the Ivy League schedule will feature four-game series, as the teams will play back-to-back double-headers against each other on Saturday and Sunday. Brown will host Dartmouth, Cornell will take on Columbia, Princeton will face Penn and Yale will welcome Harvard.
The League's non-conference slate holds a regional flavor this week, as Harvard will take on Boston College in the first round of the Beanpot Championship before facing Northeastern, Columbia will take on St. John's, Princeton will host Seton Hall, Penn will face La Salle, Brown will take on UConn, Dartmouth will play Holy Cross, Cornell will welcome Binghamton and Yale will take part in a double-header against Fairfield.
Madness
College Sports Madness also picks an Ivy League Baseball Player of the Week. Cornell senior Brian Billigen has received the award twice (March 5, March 12), while Princeton's Sam Mulroy (March 19), Penn's Vince Voiro (March 26), Penn's Greg Zebrack (April 2) and Cornell's Connor Kaufmann (April 9) have each been named once.
Ivy League Championship Series History
Beginning in 1993, the Ivy League champion, and NCAA Championship automatic qualifier, was determined by a three-game series played between the winners of the Rolfe and Gehrig Divisions.
All eight Ivy teams have won at least one League title since 1993. Princeton (seven) and Harvard (four) have combined to win 11 of the 19 Championship Series. Princeton is looking to become the first repeat Champion since it accomplished the feat in 2003-2004.
