PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League will once again be strongly represented at the NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Championship, as Brown, Columbia, Princeton and Yale were selected to compete in the 22-team national field announced Tuesday by the NCAA. This is the fifth consecutive year that at least four teams earned bids to the championship.
Princeton earned the Ivy League’s automatic qualifier after winning the conference’s NCAA AQ by a 44–43 margin over Yale at the Ivy League Championship, powered by a first-place finish in the Varsity Eight. Brown, Columbia and Yale were each awarded at-large berths, giving the League four programs in this year’s championship field.
Columbia’s selection marks the program’s first-ever NCAA Championship berth, following a strong season that included a fourth-place finish in the Varsity Eight Grand Final at the Ivy League Championship. Brown returns to the NCAA field for the 29th consecutive season, while Yale and Princeton continue their national championship pursuits after standout Ivy League Championship performances.
At the NCAA Championship, Princeton earned the No. 4 seed in both the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight, while Yale, the reigning national champion in the event, was seeded No. 5 in the Varsity Eight. Brown, Columbia and Yale also earned seeded positions across the NCAA boat classifications.
The event will be held May 29–31 at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, Ga. Full coverage, schedules and results will be available through NCAA.com.
