PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League men's basketball conference season is now more than halfway done as Cornell, Harvard, Penn, and Yale all earned pivotal wins as the race for Ivy Madness heats up.
YALE 81, BROWN 69
Yale (17-4, 6-2 Ivy) started the weekend action on Friday night, overcoming a five-point halftime deficit to defeat Brown (7-14, 1-7 Ivy) in the John J. Lee Ampitheater, 81-69. The Bulldogs used a 50-point second half to help get the victory as
Riley Fox led the way with 23 points.
Nick Townsend chipped in with a double-double, tallying 21 points and 13 rebounds. Brown has five Bears score 10-plus points as
Luke Paragon led the way with 15.
PENN 61, PRINCETON 60
Penn (11-10, 4-4 Ivy) won a nationally-televised thriller on Saturday afternoon with a 61-60 home win over Princeton (8-15, 4-4 Ivy). Trailing by 10 at halftime, Princeton mounted a furious comeback in the final minutes of the game, but the Quakers' defended
Dalen Davis' game-winning attempt on the final possession. The Quakers were paced by
T.J. Power's 18 points and seven rebounds as the Tigers were led by
CJ Happy's 14.
CORNELL 88, COLUMBIA 67
Cornell (11-10, 4-4 Ivy) jumped out to an early lead against Columbia (14-8, 3-5 Ivy) and never looked back as the Big Red claimed an 88-67 win over the Lions. Four Big Red scored in the double-figures as
Josh Baldwin led the scoring attack with 19 points while adding 10 rebounds. On the other side,
Kenny Noland tallied 21 points.
HARVARD 71, DARTMOUTH 58
Harvard (13-9, 6-2 Ivy) remained in a tie for first-place in the Ivy League standings with a 71-58 win over Dartmouth (10-11, 4-4 Ivy). The Crimson claimed their third-straight victory as
Robert Hinton had a team-high 20 points and nine rebounds. For the Big Green,
Jayden Williams tallied 19 points and
Brandon Mitchell-Day recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
