PRINCETON, N.J. — The opening games of the back-to-back weekend are in the books as Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, and Yale all claimed wins on Friday night as all eight teams are back in action tomorrow night.
CORNELL 87, PRINCETON 64
Cornell (10-9, 3-3 Ivy) shot a scorching 63.6 percent from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers to cruise to an 87-64 road win over Princeton at Newman Arena.
Jake Fiegen led the Big Red with 17 points while
Cooper Noard added 15 and
Josh Baldwin chipped in with 13 as Cornell won their third-straight win after starting 0-3 in league play. Cornell also dominated the paint 46-30 and outpaced Princeton with 19 points off turnovers. Princeton (7-14, 3-3 Ivy) was paced by
Jackson Hicke’s 13 points.
YALE 83, DARTMOUTH 68
Yale (16-3, 5-1 Ivy) shot 55.2 percent from the field and knocked down 50.0 percent of its threes in a convincing 83-68 home win over Dartmouth.
Isaac Celiscar led the Bulldogs with 17 points and
Nick Townsend added 16 as Yale outscored Dartmouth 50-36 in the second half to pull away. Yale also finished with a 31-28 rebounding advantage and converted all nine of its free throws. Dartmouth (9-10, 3-3 Ivy) was paced by
Jayden Williams’ 18 points.
HARVARD 69, BROWN 59
Harvard (11-9, 4-2 Ivy) shot 51.4 percent from the field and went 27-for-29 at the free-throw line to earn a 69–59 road win at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Robert Hinton scored 22 points and
Tey Barbour added 20 (including 4-for-6 from three) as the Crimson built a six-point halftime lead and matched it with a 35-point second half.
Chandler Pigge contributed 16 points as Harvard limited Brown to 20.0 percent from three (4-for-20). Brown (7-12, 1-5 Ivy) was led by
Landon Lewis’ 30 points.
COLUMBIA 72, PENN 67
Columbia (14-6, 3-3 Ivy) shot 53.6 percent from the field and hit 47.1 percent of its threes in a 72-67 home win over Penn.
Blair Thompson led the Lions with 16 points and
Gerard O’Keefe added 14 as Columbia built a two-point halftime lead and maintained it down the stretch. Columbia also won the rebounding battle 39-29 and forced 12 Penn turnovers. Penn (9-10, 2-4 Ivy) was paced by
T.J. Power with 23 points.
