PRINCETON, N.J. — In what was a thrilling weekend of Ivy League men's basketball, Columbia, Cornell, Princeton and Yale all earned wins to improve in the conference standings as Yale took sole possession of first-place at 4-1.
PRINCETON 63, BROWN 53
Tied heading into the second half, Princeton (7-13, 3-2 Ivy) outscored Brown by 10 points in the second frame to earn a 63-53 home win over Brown. Dalen Davis led the Tigers with 22 points, while Jackson Hicke added 19 as Princeton shot 100 percent from the line and outpaced Brown in fast-break points. Princeton also won the rebounding battle and limited Brown to 32.8 percent shooting overall. Brown (7-11, 1-4 Ivy) was paced by Landon Lewis with 13 points.
CORNELL 86, HARVARD 79
In what was a battle of the brothers between Cornell's Adam Hinton and Harvard's Robert Hinton, Cornell (9-9, 2-3 Ivy) came out on top with a 86-79 road win over Harvard (10-9, 3-2 Ivy). The Big Red shot 52.9 percent from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers and had an 18-0 run in the second half to help with the win. Hinton led the Big Red with 27 points and Cooper Noard added 19. Cornell also hit 80.8 percent of its free throws and finished with 30 assists, showcasing a balanced and efficient offensive effort. Harvard was paced by Hinton with 19 points.
YALE 77, PENN 60
Yale (15-3, 4-1 Ivy) shot 45.9 percent from the field, hit 41.2 percent from three and went 14-for-16 at the free-throw line in a 77-60 road win over Penn (9-9, 2-3 Ivy) at The Palestra. Nick Townsend and Trevor Mullin each scored 17 points while Yale finished with a 42-28 edge in rebounding and outscored Penn in both halves to pull away. Yale also generated 12 points off turnovers and assisted on 31 baskets in a balanced offensive effort. The Quakers were led by A.J. Levine with 17 points. The win gave the Bulldogs sole possession of first-place in the conference standings at 4-1.
COLUMBIA 79, DARTMOUTH 69
Columbia (13-6, 2-3 Ivy) snapped a losing skid with a 79-69 road win over Dartmouth (9-9, 3-2 Ivy). Columbia shot 42.1 percent from the field and hit 40.7 percent of its threes. Kenny Noland led the Lions with a double-double (29 points and 10 rebounds), while Hampton Sanders added 16 as Columbia outscored Dartmouth 48-38 after the break. The Lions also finished with a 41-33 rebounding edge and converted 20 free throws to help maintain the lead down the stretch. Brandon Mitchell-Day led the way for the Big Green with 20 points.
