Ivy League Softball All-Ivy, Major Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. - After treating Ivy League softball fans to another exciting regular season, the Ivy League has unveiled its 2025 major award winners and All-Ivy honorees.

Winning Ivy League Player of the Year, and in unanimous fashion, was Brown catcher Laurel Moody. Moody put together a remarkable season for the Bears, leading the Ivy League in almost every offensive category en route to becoming the first Brown player to win the league’s top player award since 2012. She started all 45 games in the 2025 season, proving to be one of the toughest outs in the entire conference with an Ivy League-best .443 batting average overall, a product of totaling 58 hits in 131 plate appearances, and a .436 batting average in Ivy League games. The senior also led the league in slugging percentage and on-base percentage at .855 and .542, respectively, and was tops in home runs by a sizeable margin as she was the only player to reach double-digit home runs with 15 on the season. The Carlsbad, Calif. native capped off her all-around season by ranking first in the Ivy League with 41 RBI, tying for first with 30 walks, fourth with 34 runs scored, and tied for seventh by throwing out 7 would-be base stealers.

Stepping into a full-time starting role and becoming one of the top pitchers in the league, Princeton’s Brielle Wright was named the 2025 Ivy League Pitcher of the Year. Wright, who set the Ivy League single-season record with 10 saves a season ago, started 22 games for the Tigers this year while making a league-high 29 total appearances. While she had a great overall year, ranking top five in most statistical categories, she was exceptional in Ivy League play, finding herself at or near the top of almost every category. Wright logged the third-most innings pitched in Ivy League play with 76.1, led all Ivy League pitchers with a 1.56 earned run average and a 0.202 opposing batting average, and ranked third with 65 strikeouts. She tied for the league lead with 9 wins, going 9-1 in 14 starts, but was tops in the league with four complete-game, shutout victories.

Alexa Muller made it three-straight Harvard players to win Ivy League Rookie of the Year, following in the footsteps of her teammates Riley Flynn and Sophie Sun, after an extremely strong Ivy League season. Muller didn’t make her first start of the year until Harvard’s 12th game of the season on March 15th, but from that point, she made 25 consecutive starts, including starting all 21 Ivy League contests. Muller hit .436 in Ivy League play, ranking third in batting average, and posted a 1.185 OPS, ranking second to just Moody. The first-year had multiple hits in nine of her last 16 games, posting a season-high four hits in a 4-for-4 day against Dartmouth on April 25, and was a key cog in Harvard’s offense, with RBI in each of Harvard’s last six games of the year, all of which were Crimson victories.

After leading Princeton to the outright Ivy League Championship, matching the longest streak of consecutive Ivy League Championships with four straight wins, the Tigers’ coaching staff was named the 2025 Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year. It is Lisa Van Ackeren and her staff’s fourth-straight Ivy League honor and their sixth in Van Ackeren’s 13 years as Princeton’s head coach. Her Tigers went 17-4 in Ivy League play, matching the best record in conference play over the last 11 seasons, utilizing a balanced approach to secure the league’s top spot. Princeton led the league in scoring at 6.3 runs per game and their pitching staff, behind their standout starting pitcher duo of Wright and Cassidy Shaw, led the Ivy League with a  2.13 earned run average.
Players from seven of the eight Ivy League teams were featured between the two All-Ivy Teams with Princeton leading the way with seven honorees. Harvard was close behind with six selections, followed by five from Columbia. Cornell had three total All-Ivy selections and Brown, Dartmouth, and Yale each had two honorees to round out the 27 total All-Ivy recipients.

Princeton led all Ivy League members with six student-athletes named to the All-Ivy First Team, led by Wright, who was a unanimous selection as a pitcher. Joining Wright was third baseman Sonia Zhang, shortstop Julia Dumais, outfielder Allison Ha, utility player Braeden Hale, and DP Karis Ford. Moody was a unanimous selection as the All-Ivy First Team catcher, one of two Brown players selected alongside pitcher Alexis Guevara. Columbia and Harvard also had two All-Ivy First Team selections apiece, with the Lions’ Sarah Mikami a unanimous selection at first base and Cami Neal being selected as All-Ivy second base. Audrey Szollosi and Muller were Harvard’s two selections and Dartmouth’s Alaana Panu was the final unanimous choice on the All-Ivy First Team, being selected as one of the three outfielders.

In addition, eight Ivies were named to the Academic All-Ivy team for their outstanding performances both in the classroom and on the field. The Academic All-Ivy team includes Brown’s Leah Carey, Columbia’s Sarah Mikami, Cornell’s Sydney Stapf, Dartmouth’s Jenna Brown, Harvard’s Ryan Grace, Penn’s Madison Bauerle, Princeton’s Allison Ha, and Yale’s Emma Taylor.
