Princeton, Columbia Advance to Ivy League Softball Tournament Final

 PRINCETON, N.J. – Top-seeded Princeton and third-seeded Columbia advanced to the Ivy League Softball Tournament final after Friday’s action at Cynthia Lynn Paul ’94 Field.
 
GAME 3: #1 PRINCETON 6, #3 COLUMBIA 1
Top-seeded Princeton punched its ticket to the championship game with a 6-1 win over third-seeded Columbia.
 
The Tigers struck in the first inning and never trailed, getting an RBI double from Graciela Dominguez to open the scoring. Columbia tied the game in the third, but Princeton answered in the fifth before breaking the game open with a four-run sixth inning.
 
Dominguez led the Princeton offense, going 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Cassidy Shaw earned the win after allowing one run over five innings with five strikeouts, while Brielle Wright closed the door with two scoreless innings of relief. Princeton improved to 32-13 with the win.
 
GAME 4: #4 BROWN 8, #2 HARVARD 2
Fourth-seeded Brown kept its tournament run alive with an 8-2 win over second-seeded Harvard in an elimination game.
 
Harvard jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Finley Payne’s two-run home run, but Brown chipped away with single runs in the third and fifth before erupting for six runs in the sixth.
 
Elli Thompson delivered the key swing of the inning with a bases-clearing double, while Abby Bettencourt followed with an RBI triple and Macy Borowski added an RBI double. Borowski also went the distance in the circle, holding Harvard to two runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
 
GAME 5: #3 COLUMBIA 2, #4 BROWN 1 — 12 innings
Columbia outlasted Brown, 2-1, in a 12-inning pitcher’s duel to earn a spot in the championship game.
 
The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the first on Juju O’Brien’s RBI double, but Brown evened the score in the fourth when Lily Burns singled home Amanda Deng. From there, Mads Lawson and Edie Cobb traded zeroes deep into extra innings.
 
Lawson was dominant for Columbia, throwing all 12 innings while allowing just one run on four hits with 12 strikeouts. Cobb was nearly as strong for Brown, going 11.1 innings and allowing two runs while working out of trouble throughout the game.
 
Columbia finally broke through in the bottom of the 12th. Sarah Mikami, O’Brien and Alicia Marzouca reached to load the bases, and Tatum Hubble drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Mikami with the winning run.
 
With the win, Columbia advanced to face Princeton in the Ivy League Softball Tournament final. First pitch for the first contest has been moved from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. due to expected inclement weather.
