PRINCETON, N.J. — For the first time in conference history, three Ivy League women's basketball are going dancing after Columbia, Harvard, and Princeton all heard their names called on Sunday's selection show.
Harvard (24-4, 11-3) was the first Ivy to hear their name called on Selection Sunday after earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament following their championship in the Ivy League Tournament. The Crimson earned the No. 10 seed in the Spokane 1 region as Harvard will take on No. 7 Michigan State in the first round on Saturday, March 22. Game time is to be determined.
Columbia (23-6, 13-1 Ivy) earned an at-large selection to the tournament following an impressive 2024-25 campaign — which included the Ivy League regular season title. This marks the second-straight year that the Lions earned an at-large berth to the big dance, after earning an 11 seed last year as well. Columbia will take on No. 11 Washington on Thursday, March 20 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
The last Ivy to hear their name called was Princeton (21-7, 12-2 Ivy) who make their fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers earn an at-large spot for the second time in program history, grabbing an 11-seed and facing Iowa State on Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m.
The selections come after a season that saw three Ivies — Princeton, Columbia, and Harvard — consistently ranked in the top-50 of the NET rankings throughout the year. The Ivy League was one of only five conferences (Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC) in the nation to have three teams ranked in the top-50 of the NET for the majority of the season.
This marks the third time in the league's history that multiple teams have earned berths in a given year, doing so in 2016 and 2024.
