PRINCETON, N.J. -- Signs of March were all around Ivy League women's basketball on Saturday as the top two teams in the standings battled in New York City and Harvard sealed their spot in Ivy Madness.
In front of a sold out crowd in New York City, Columbia defeated No. 25 Princeton 67-65 to move into a first place tie at 10-1 in the standings with three games remaining in the regular season. The Lions were led by
Abbey Hsu's 26 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the floor. Her day pushed her past the 2,000 point mark for her career, just the fourth to do so in league history.
In Ithaca, Penn outscored Cornell 26-15 in the fourth quarter to earn a 61-54 win. The victory puts the Quakers right back into a tie for the fourth and final spot for Ivy Madness — tied with Brown. Penn was led by
Jordan Obi's 18 points and 12 rebounds.
In Cambridge,
Lola Mullaney was one of four Crimson in double figures, leading her squad with 24 points, as Harvard defeated Brown 80-73. With the win, the Crimson clinch a trip to New York City for Ivy Madness next month.
In Hanover, Yale raced out to a 14-point halftime lead on its way to a big win over Dartmouth. The Bulldogs now just sit a game back of fourth place in the Ivy League standings behind Brown and Penn with three games remaining. Brenna McDonald led Yale with a career-high 30 points.
Next weekend features the final back-to-back weekend of the regular season beginning with four games — Harvard at Princeton, Columbia at Brown, Cornell at Yale and Dartmouth at Penn — on Friday night.
