BOWLING GREEN, OHIO — Columbia women's basketball will be playing for the Postseason WNIT Championship following a 77-70 win over Bowling Green in the Fab Four. The Lions controlled the game throughout inside of a packed crowd at BGSU's Stroh Center, leading for all 40 minutes.
The Lions will match up against Kansas on Saturday, April 1 at 5:30 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on CBS Sports Network.
Columbia raced out to a 23-7 lead midway through the first quarter thanks to 11 early points from junior guard
Abbey Hsu. Bowling Green responded shortly after with a 12-0 run of their own to close the gap going into the second quarter. The Lions, who shot 54% from the field and 39% from three-point range on the night, maintained their lead going into halftime as they outscored the Falcons in the period.
The Lions continued to control the contest in the second half as senior
Kaitlyn Davis took over with 19 points and 15 rebounds for the game. The Lions as a team dominated the glass, outrebounding the Falcons 47-34. After Bowling Green cut the lead to three early in the fourth quarter, Columbia responded with a scoring run of their own that included a
Davis three-pointer as the shot clock expired to virtually put the game out of reach.
Hsu once again paced the Lions in scoring, recording 20-plus points for the fourth game of the tournament.
Four Lions scored in double-figures as senior
Hannah Pratt registered 12 points while
Kitty Henderson tallied 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
The Lions are the first team in Ivy League history to reach the WNIT Championship after wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, Syracuse, Harvard and Bowling Green. This is the second straight year that Columbia has made a deep run in the Postseason WNIT as the Lions advanced to the Great Eight in the 2021-22 campaign.
