Penn Claims Ivy Heps Title; Only Four Points Separate Top Three Teams

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Penn women’s track and field team claimed the 2022 Outdoor Ivy Heptagonal championship. This marks the sixth Heps title for the Quakers in program history.
 
With just four points separating the top three teams in the final standings, it all came down to final event. The Quakers pulled away and took first in the 4x400 relay to seal their third consecutive title.
 
This was the closest finish between the top three schools in Ivy Heps history. Harvard took second with 136 points and Princeton finished third with 133 points.
 
Yale’s Kayley DeLay was named the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Track Performer. DeLay set a meet record in the steeplechase with a time of the 9:53 – finishing 35 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. She also won the 5000m 16:57.56 which was 12 seconds before the next athlete crossed the line.
 
Princeton’s Kate Joyce was voted the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Field Performer. Joyce set a Heps and school record with a heave of 51.96m in the javelin.
