Princeton Earns Ivy Playoff Series Title in Game 3

PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton claimed the Ivy League Playoff series title with a 6-1 win over Harvard in Game 3 of the best-of-three series. With the win, the Tigers earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
 
The contest resumed in the second inning after play was suspended due to weather with Princeton holding a 3-0 lead on Saturday.
 
Serena Starks opened the scoring on Sunday with an RBI double to deep center field, which scored Abbie Lee from first.
 
The Crimson got on the board in the fifth Morgan Melito hitting home Mackenzie Tyler with an RBI double. Harvard brought the tying run to the plate in the inning, but Princeton pitcher Alexis Laudenslager was able to get out of the jam.
 
Laudenslager finished the contest with a just one earned run and surrendered just three hits in the complete-game victory.
 
The Tigers countered in the bottom half of the fifth inning with two insurance runs to push ahead 6-1.
 
Princeton became the first team win the Ivy Playoff Series after dropping the first game.
 
The Tigers will learn which regional site they draw in the NCAA tournament selection show which airs at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 15 on ESPN2.
