PRINCETON, N.J. – Strong performances from Brown’s Darian Cook and Cornell’s CJ Kirst in the season openers led to the Ivy League Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards. Cook earned Player of the Week honors while Kirst picks up Rookie of the Week nods.
In the first day of the 2022 season, the Ivy League picked up five wins, including No. 7 Yale’s win over No. 20 Villanova.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Darian Cook, Brown (Sr., A – Redding, Conn.)
4G, 4A, 8 Pts., 4 SOG, 2GB, 2TO vs. Quinnipiac (W, 19-13)
- Recorded a team-high eight points in Brown’s season-opening 19-13 win over Quinnipiac
- Scored four goals and dished out first assists in the win
- His four assists and eight points marked career-highs
- Finish the game with four shots on goal and two ground balls
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
CJ Kirst, Cornell (So., A – Bernardsville, N.J.)
4G, 3A, 7 Pts., 7 SOG, 4GB, 1TO 1CT vs. UAlbany (W, 16-8)
- Made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut with seven points in Cornell’s 16-8 win over UAlbany
- Notched a game-high four goals and three assists
- Two of Kirst’s four goals came in the first quarter that saw the Big Red establish a 5-0 lead over the Great Danes
- Added four ground balls and a caused turnover
