ITHACA, N.Y. - Princeton used a dominant second half to capture the Ivy League Tournament title with a 19-9 win over Cornell at Schoellkopf Field. After a competitive first half, the Tigers broke the game open in the third quarter and never looked back.
Trailing 5-4 late in the first half, Princeton flipped the game with a massive run out of the break, scoring 11 of the game’s next 12 goals to turn a one-goal deficit into a commanding double-digit lead. The Tigers carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, extending the margin to as many as 10 and putting the game out of reach.
Nate Kabiri led the way for the Tigers, contributing seven points in the win on two goals and five assists. Colin Burns, Chad Palumbo, Tucker Wade, and Porter Malkiel all had hat tricks with three goals each, while 10 different Tigers found the back of the net. Ryan Croddick was a force in goal for the Tigers with 18 saves.
With the win, Princeton earns the Ivy League’s automatic berth to the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament.
The NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Selection Show will air at 9:30 p.m. tonight on ESPNU, where multiple Ivy League teams are set to learn their postseason fate.
