Brown, Yale Advance to Ivy Tournament Title Game

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The championship match for the 2022 Ivy League Volleyball Tournament is set. With wins in the semifinal rounds on Friday inside John J. Lee Amphitheater, No. 1 Yale and No. 3 Brown punched tickets to Saturday’s 6 p.m. final.
 
SEMIFINAL 1
BROWN 3, PRINCETON 0
4 p.m. // New Haven, Conn. // John J. Lee Amphitheater
  • Brown topped Princeton 3-0 (25-18, 28-26, 30-28) in Friday’s first semifinal. Two of the three games were extended sets.
  • Brown senior outside hitter Sophia Miller posted 13 kills and added one block. Sophomore outside hitter Kayla Griebl also recorded double-digit kills with 12. Sophomore middle blocker Gabby Derrick and junior right side hitter Kate Sheire each registered six blocks.
  • Princeton had a trio of players with double-digit kills in senior outside hitter Melina Mahood (16), Elena Montgomery (10) and Avery Luoma (10). Luoma posted a double-double with 14 digs.

YALE 3, DARTMOUTH 0
7 p.m. // New Haven, Conn. // John J. Lee Amphitheater
  • Top-seeded Yale bested Dartmouth 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) in the second semifinal.
  • Yale sophomore middle hitter Gigi Barr registered a team-high 10 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Mila Yarich posted nine kills and a team-high 14 digs. Sophomore setter Carly Diehl had a match-high 25 assists.
  • Dartmouth junior middle blocker Amelia Gibbs registered a team-high seven kills. Sophomore libero Emma Engstrom had 19 digs and the team’s lone ace.

Yale and Brown will square off in the title game Saturday at 6 p.m. ET. The contest will be broadcast on ESPN+.
