Ivy League Announces Coach of the Year; Academic All-Ivy

PRINCETON, N.J. – Following the 2022 Ivy League Cross Country Heptagonal Championships, the Ivy League has announced the men's and women's cross country coach of the year selections as well as the Academic All-Ivy student-athletes.

COACH OF THE YEAR
After leading their respective programs to Ivy League championships at last Saturday's meet, Harvard’s Alex Gibby and Princeton’s Jason Vigilante have been named the 2022 Ivy League Coach of the Year.

The Crimson were crowned the women’s champions for the second consecutive year, marking the first time that Harvard has accomplished back-to-back women's cross country championships since 1984-85. The Crimson recorded 54 points, edging out second-place Princeton by nine points. It is Harvard’s ninth Ivy League title overall. At the Heptagonal Cross Country Championships, three of their scorers finished in the top 12, highlighted by junior Maia Ramsden’s first-place finish and junior Maya Rayle’s sixth-place finish with times of 20:42.4 and 21:11.7, respectively.

Vigilante’s Tigers captured their second straight men’s title, their 23rd title in program history, finishing three points ahead of second-place Harvard. Four Tigers finished inside the top 10, highlighted by sophomore Anthony Monte's third-place finish. Finishing just behind Monte was junior Connor Nisbet in fourth place as Daniel O'Brien (eighth), Duncan Miller (ninth), and Jarrett Kirk (14th) rounded out the scoring for Princeton.

Both Gibby’s and Vigilante’s squads advance to the NCAA Regionals set to be held on Friday, November 11. Harvard will be competing in the Northeast Regional, while Princeton will be competing in the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
