PRINCETON, N.J. – After the first weekend of the 2020 Ivy League softball season, Cornell, Dartmouth and Harvard took home the first Ivy League softball weekly awards.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bridgette Rooney, Cornell (Sr., First Base – Hopewell Junction, N.Y.)

• Rooney was 10-for-15 at the plate, hitting .667 with a .706 on-base percentage.
• Scored a team-high seven runs.
• Had three multi-hit games and finished the weekend with three RBIs, three doubles and one homerun over the five games.
• . Hitting 3 RBI’s, 3 doubles and 1 homerun over the five games for a slugging percentage of 1.067 and walked twice.

 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Brooke Plonka, Dartmouth (So., P – Marilla, N.Y.)
Threw the final two innings against No. 25 Virginia Tech, struck out five, and did not allow a run.  

• Pitched a complete-game shutout with 14 strikeouts and only allowed four hits.
• Helped combine for a no-hitter in a win against N.C. A&T, where she started and struck out five over 3.1 innings.
• Totaled 25 strikeouts in 16.1 inning to lead the League
• Ranks second in opponent batting average at .197

 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Allison Heffley, Harvard (Fr., Catcher - Lemoore, Calif.)

• Led Harvard to a strong showing at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational.
• She finished with seven hits, including three RBIs and two doubles. 
• Hit .500 across five games at Florida Gulf Coast Invitational.
