PRINCETON, N.J. -- Princeton women’s basketball head coach Courtney Banghart has been named to the same position at the University of North Carolina, it was announced.
 
Banghart totaled 11 Ivy League championships and 12 NCAA Tournament appearances during her Ivy League career, including two each as a player and assistant coach at Dartmouth. Her time as the head coach of the Tigers was nothing short of extraordinary, as she led her team to seven Ivy League titles and eight NCAA Tournament appearances in 12 seasons.
 
Banghart’s best season came in 2014-15, when Princeton went undefeated and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. For her efforts, she was named the Naismith National Coach of the Year and one of Fortune Magazine's World's 50 Greatest Leaders.
 
Banghart, who earned the inagurual Ivy League Coach of the Year award in 2014-15, also received the honor in 2017-18. She compiled a 254-103 (.711) overall record and a 137-31 Ivy mark (.816) and ranks fourth all-time in Ivy history in overall victories and Ivy wins.
 
She leaves the Princeton program in great shape; the two-time defending Ivy League champion Tigers return most of their starters next season, including the two-time Ivy League Player of the Year and 2019 honorable mention All-American Bella Alarie.
