Women's Golf All-Ivy, Postseason Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. – Yale freshman Ami Gianchandani swept the Ivy League women’s golf postseason awards for just the second time in League history following a vote of the League’s seven head coaches.

Gianchandani who was voted both Player and Rookie of the Year, becomes just the second student-athlete in Ivy League women’s history to earn both awards, joining Yale’s Seo Hee Moon who did so in 2011.

Dartmouth’s Alex Kirk was named Ivy League Coach of the Year.

Gianchandani finished her freshman campaign with a 73.88 scoring average through 25 rounds, which ranked second among League leaders. The Short Hills, N.J., native averaged 1.40 strokes under par while posting three tournaments wins, seven top 10 finishes in nine tournaments. The rookie placed fourth at the 2019 Ivy League Women’s Golf Championship, shooting +6 to claim First Team All-Ivy accolades. Gianchandani carded a tournament-best three-under par 69 in the final round of play.

Kirk guided Dartmouth to its best finish ever at the Ivy League Championship, placing second with a 907 (+43), just six strokes behind the champion, Harvard as three Big Green golfers finished in the top-15. The 907 is also Dartmouth's best three-round score ever at the Ivy League Championship, besting last year's 935 when the Big Green finished fifth. The Big Green's highest finish had been third, accomplished four times previously, the last coming in 2004 when the league first expanded to seven teams.

This is Kirk’s first Coach of the Year nod since the award was implemented in 2015.

Harvard was the lone Ivy to produce four All-Ivy golfers (1 First Team, 3 second Team). 6-of-7 Ivy League programs were represented among the two All-Ivy teams.

The All-Ivy teams are based on the results from the Ivy League Men’s Golf Championship. The top five finishers, including ties, are recognized as First Team All-Ivy golfers, while the next five finishers, including ties, are honored as Second Team All-Ivy recipients.
