Brown, Harvard, Penn Take Home Softball Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Brown, Harvard and Penn took home this week’s Ivy League softball weekly awards.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madi Cranford, Brown (So., C – Escondido, Calif.)
  • Cranford batted a ridiculous .875 in four games, going 7-of-8 with two doubles
  • She recorded at least one hit in all four contests, including two multi-hit games
  • She knocked in three runs and scored one more, while slugging 1.125
  • She also walked four times for an on-base percentage of .932, and stole three bases
  • Cranford’s older sister Miranda played softball at George Mason from 2009-12
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Tabitha Dyer, Penn (So., P – Newbury Park, Calif.)
  • Dyer made two appearances, including a complete game two-hit win over Bethune-Cookman, which had defeated No. 17 Oregan last week
  • She struck out five against BCU, walked three and gave up just the two hits and one unearned run
  • Dyer limited opposing batters to .077 at the plate, and finished the week with an ERA of 0.00
  • Dyer was a four-time President’s Academic Scholar Athlete Award recipient in high school
CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
Teagan Shaw, Harvard (Fr., C/UTL – Indianapolis)
  • Shaw led the Crimson to a 3-1 week, hitting .385 (5-for-13) in four games
  • She hit three home runs and slugged 1.077
  • Shaw scored four runs and knocked in six more, while also walking three times for an on-base percentage of .500
  • Shaw’s mother, Leigh, was an All-American softball player at the University of Toledo.
Emma Nedley, Penn (Fr., OF – Monroeville, Pa.)
  • Nedley hit .471 (8-for-17) in five games
  • She hit for the cycle for the week and slugged .824, while recording three RBI and four runs
  • Nedley recorded three multi-hit games, including a game against Furman in which she hit 3-for-4 with a double and a triple
  • Nedley was selected to play for the Netherlands in the 2014 USA Cup
