PRINCETON, N.J. – For the ninth time in the last 10 seasons, the Ivy League will send two teams to the 2018 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship. Yale and Cornell, who battled it out in the Ivy League Tournament finals at Columbia on Sunday, have earned berths to the big dance.
Since the NCAA Championship began in 1971, the League has received multiple bids 34 times, including nine of the past 10 years.
The Bulldogs, earning the No. 3 seed overall, will host CAA Champions Massachusetts at Reese Stadium on Saturday, May 12 at noon at ESPNU.
Earlier in the season, Yale defeated Massachusetts, 13-10. The Bulldogs are making their ninth overall and fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Yale will look to record its first win since defeating Penn State, 10-7, in 2013.
Fresh off its first Ivy League Tournament title since 2011, Cornell will travel to cross town rival No. 8 Syracuse on Sunday, May 13 at 7:15 p.m., on ESPNU.
The two teams met earlier in the season with the Big Red earning a 13-8 win over the Orange. Cornell, making its 28
th NCAA Tournament appearance, has posted a 32-24 record with 13 Final Four appearances, the last coming in 2013 and three national titles (1971, 1976, 1977).
