Princeton Claims 2017 Ivy League Championship

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. -- Princeton claimed the 2017 Ivy League Women's Rowing Championship title with a spectacular showing in the first varsity eight grand final Sunday at the Cooper River. 

In the final event of the day, the Tigers, who claimed their second straight Ivy League title, used a brilliant start to gain a significant lead by the first 500 meters and never let either Top-10 boat get within contact to claim the 2017 Ivy League championship. The Tigers finished in 6:07.38. 

Brown continued its dominance in the second varsity eight, placing first for the fifth year in a row with a time of 6:17.69. The Bears defeated Princeton (6:20.575) and Yale (6:24.260). 

Brown was dominant throughout the day, earning the team points trophy for the fourth straight time with 81 points. The Bears edged out Princeton (76), Yale (71), Penn (50), Harvard (46), Columbia (37), Cornell (23) and Dartmouth (15).

Yale took the varsity four A in a tight battle with Brown and Princeton. The Bulldogs crossed the line with a time of 7:05.270, 1.37 seconds faster than the Bears. Princeton finished in 7:08.947 to take fourth and Penn claimed fifth with a time of 7:18.348.
