Records Continue to Fall at Men's Swimming and Diving Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – Multiple DeNunzio Pool and Ivy meet and all-time records fell on Thursday night on Day 2 of the 2026 Ivy League Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

Princeton won three of the five events of the night, and placed well in the others, giving the Tiger 541 team points. Yale won the other two events to total 459.5 points through seven total events. Harvard sits in third with 376.5 points, while Columbia and Brown are tied for fourth with 305 points. Cornell sits in sixth with 281 points, Dartmouth follows in seventh with 226 points, and Pennsylvania rounds out the standings with 196 points.
Yale senior Noah Millard set the tone early, besting his qualifying time by over 3 seconds to set a new pool record in the Men’s 500 Yard Freestyle event. He touched the wall in 4:10.19 to win the gold medal and became the seventh swimmer in Ivy League history to win the 500 Yard Freestyle three times in his career. William Mulgrew of Harvard came in second with a time of 4:12.03 while Princeton’s Arthur Balva took the bronze at 4:14.71.

The first broken Ivy record of the night came in the men’s 200 Yard Individual Medley, with that honor going to Princeton senior Mitchell Schott. Last year’s Ivy League champion in the event, his time of 1:40.93 set both the Ivy all-time and DeNunzio Pool records and secured the Tigers’ first win of the night. Brown’s Marton Nagy earned the silver with a time of 1:42.26, holding off Yale’s Jake Wang who finished in 1:42.86.
Nicholas Finch defended his 2025 Ivy League title in the Men’s 50 Yard Freestyle, not only besting his time of last year, but also matched the Ivy all-time record set by Yale’s Alex Righi in 2009 and broke his Ivy Meet record by 0.08 seconds. He also set the new pool record with his time of 18.82 seconds. Princeton’s Patrick Dinu came in second with a time of 19.10 seconds and 2024 champion, Sonny Wang of Harvard finished third, touching the wall in 19.21 seconds.

The action then moved to diving for the Men’s 1-meter. First year Tiger, Chase Sorosky posted the second best score in meet histoy, winning the gold medal with a score of 402.30. Rowland Lawver of Brown just edged out Princeton’s Aidan Wang for second, scoring 351.55 points, 0.45 points ahead of Wang’s 351.10 final score.

The last event of the night was the Men’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, always a crowd favorite. In what was, arguably, the most competitive event of the night, each of the top three teams broke the DeNunzio Pool record and the top two teams, Princeton and Yale, each broke the Ivy Meet record. It was Princeton, however, the posted the top time with their time of 1:16.03 breaking the Ivy Meet record by 0.45 seconds and besting the Bulldogs’ time of 1:16.41 to win the gold medal and stretch Princeton’s team lead over Yale.

Action returns for Day 3 of the 2026 Ivy League Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, February 27. Preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. and the Finals begin at 6 p.m. All events will be streamed on ESPN+.
