MILAN, Italy – The Ivy League contingent once again had a strong showing at the Olympic Games as 32 Ivies participated in the 2026 edition of the Winter Games in Milano Cortina, Italy.
Nine Ivies took home medals in Milano Cortina – eight medals in ice hockey and one in Alpine Skiing.

OTHER MEMORABLE FINISHES:
- Dartmouth’s John Steel Hagenbuch posted a 14th place finish out of 113 competitors in the men’s cross country skiing 10km interval start free and was the top finisher for Team USA
- Three Ivies competed for Team Italy’s women’s ice hockey team and reached the Quarterfinal round — Brown’s Jaqueline Pierri, Cornell’s Laura Fortino and Harvard’s Kristin Della Rovere. The trio helped make history with Italy’s 4-1 win over opening game over France in Group B, giving Italy it’s first-ever win in the Olympic Games.
NOTABLES:
- 19 Ivy League athletes were current or former NCAA student-athletes, tied for the fourth-highest amount of all NCAA conferences.
- The Ivy League is one of only two NCAA conferences (Big Ten) in the top five of athletes represented in both the Paris 2024 and Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games
- Dartmouth had nine current and former NCAA student-athletes, the fifth-highest amount of any NCAA institution
- The Ivy League increased its all-time medal count to 544 medals. If the Ivy League were its own country, it would rank 13th on the all-time table
- Four former Ivy League student-athletes competed on the U.S. Olympic team, one of only eight conferences with four or more current or former NCAA athletes represented on Team USA
- Ivy League talent was strongly represented on Team Canada's women's ice hockey team, which took home silver. Six athletes from four Ivy League schools combined for nine goals and 13 assists throughout the Games.
