An Ivy Sweep! Penn’s Hafez and Princeton’s Zein Earn CSA National Titles

NEW YORK – Penn’s Omar Hafez and Princeton’s Zeina Zein captured individual national titles Tuesday at the CSA National Individual Championships at Grand Central Terminal.

Hafez topped Trinity’s Muhammad Ashab Irfan 3-1 (11-5, 11-9, 6-11, 11-3) to claim the Pool Trophy. Hafez finished as last year’s runner up in the final, falling to his teammate Salman Khalil. He became the 49th different Ivy League athlete to win a men’s individual national championship.

Zein bested Harvard’s Caroline Fouts in an All-Ivy final by a score of 3-1 (11-8, 12-10, 5-11, 14-12) to win her second straight Ramsay Cup. With her win, Zein joins an elite group of just 12 women in championship history to have won multiple national titles.
