Outdoor Track & Field Championships Set For This Weekend In New Haven

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

PRINCETON, N.J. — Following another record-breaking season for Ivy League outdoor track & field, the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for this weekend in New Haven, Conn. at Yale's Cuyler Athletic Complex and Dwyer Track.

The championships can be watched both days on ESPN+ starting at 11 a.m. ET.

BROKEN RECORDS
Plenty of Ivy League records have already fallen throughout the course of the season as Harvard’s Victoria Bossong took down a 35-year-old record in the women’s 800m run with a time of 1:59.48, breaking Meredith Rainey’s record.

Princeton’s Tessa Mudd broke her own Ivy League record in the women’s pole vault with a mark of 4.40m at the Virginia Challenge, breaking her previous mark at 4.30m. Later on, another Ivy, Harvard’s Milina Wepiwé, broke her own all-time record as well, this time in the discus throw with a mark of 59.75m, breaking her previous record at 59.23m last year.

Harvard’s Izzy Goudros continued her stellar season with, breaking the Ivy League all-time record in the heptathlon with 5807 points, breaking her previous record of 5769 points in the process.

Penn’s men 4x800m relay team of Miller, Klanke, Pizarro, and Going clocked a time of 7:19.02 at the Penn Relays, toppling the nine-year-old record previously set by Columbia (7:20.41).

DEFENDING CHAMPS
Last year, the Penn women and Princeton men left Princeton’s Weaver Field with the team titles as the men racked up 204.5 points while the women earned 184.5 points, defeating second-place Princeton in thrilling fashion by 0.5 points,  

NATIONAL SUCCESS
Last year, the Ivy League represented well at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. as Harvard’s Maia Ramsden won the women’s 1500m national title while seven total Ivies were named First Team All-America.
