PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2025 Ivy League men’s and women’s fencing champions are set for this weekend in Philadelphia at The Palestra on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
Saturday’s action begins at 10 a.m. while Sunday’s competition begins at 9 a.m. Important links for the championships are available below.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- NATIONALLY RANKED FIELD – 11 Ivies are ranked in the US Fencing Coaches Poll. On the women’s side, five teams are in the top-10 nationally. Harvard owns the top spot, followed by Columbia (No. 3), Princeton (No. 4), Penn (No. 7), Cornell (No. 8), and Yale (No. 12. In addition, all five men’s teams are ranked within the top-10 as Harvard is also No. 1 on the men's side followed by Columbia (No. 3), Princeton (No. 4), Penn (No. 7), and Yale (No. 9).
- DEFENDING CHAMPS – There were multiple champions in the 2024 Ivy League men’s and women’s fencing championships with three-way ties on both the men's and women's side. Columbia, Princeton, and Penn finished the championship with 5-1 records to claim the women's title while Columbia, Princeton, and Harvard each went 3-1 on the men’s side to win the title. Individually, Harvard's Zoe Kim won the women's sabre competition, Kristina Petrova won in women's foil and Emily Vermeule of Harvard topped the women's epee standings. On the men's side, Yale's Jordan Silberzweig won in saber, Columbia's Samarth Kumbla won in foil and Harvard's Jonas Hansen won the epee competition.
- NATIONAL CHAMPIONS – The Ivy League had an outstanding showing at the 2024 NCAA men's and women's fencing championships as Harvard won the NCAA title, four Ivies captured individual national championships, and 35 Ivies were named All-Americans. On the women’s side, Harvard dominated as Emily Vermeule (women’s epee) and Jessica Guo (women’s foil) claimed individual titles while on the men’s side, Princeton’s Tristan Szapary won in epee and Penn’s Bryce Louie won in foil.
- OLYMPIC IVY – Seven Ivies who competed on the Paris 2024 Olympic stage and combined for three Olympic medals are set to compete at the 2025 Ivy League fencing championships including Harvard's Lauren Scruggs, Princeton's Maia Weintraub, Princieton's Hadley Husisian, Harvard's Jessica Guo, Harvard's Colin Heathcock, Penn's Malak Hamza, and Columbia's Bogdan Hamilton. Scruggs and Weintraub were two members of the U.S. Women's Foil team, which captured gold for the first time in the sport's history. Scruggs also took home silver in the women's individual competition.
